Dear PockEmul’s fans,
I am pleased to announce the next available package in PockEmul. I’m currently testing intensively to avoid regression and i hope to release it before the end of the week.
This package includes the last Sharp Pocket Computers: The PC-E500, PC-E550 (Japan), PC-E500S, PC-U6000(Japan) and the PC-G850V.
Only few people know the PC-E500 Serie and PC-G850V.
These pocket computers were hardly exported outside Japan. So few knows them, even less have had the opportunity to play with them.
You can now explore the last specimens of the Pocket Computers era.
As usual, user manuals are available in PockEmul. You will spend a lot of time on this because there is so much to discover…
- Memory card are managed from 2 KB to 256Kb.
- The internal memory can be hacked to 256MB extension. It provides a 512KB Pocket Computer, so much to program and to store your developments in the included file system.
- Interruptions are not correctly emulated, so the OFF key is not yet managed.
- The serial port is not yet emulated but will be part of this package in a future release. A global serial console will be part of PockEmul core and will bring the capability to load text program easely.
- The CE-126P is fully managed.

Please disregard my previous comment, I see both the PC-E500 and the PC-1251H support the extended memory i mentioned already. Great!
But I would like much better support for a phone with a physical keyboard. I am using the new Pro1 from f(x)tec, fxtec.com. I so highly recommend it, especially for classic computer emulators!!! Please check it out!
To be honest, none of my Android devices has a physical keyboard. I will try by to plug an external one to make some test.
Anyway, the issue about a physical keyboard is key mapping. There are so many different layout (especially calculator keys). This is why PockEmul is touch oriented with the “real” image of the emulated device.
Alphabetical key are normally working.
I will try to make the “shift” keys and numerical keys working. But going further seems very difficult.
I upgraded the internal ram in my actual PC-E500 to 256K Bytes. Can you support this amount of internal RAM as an option?
I also upgraded my Tandy PC-3 / Sharp PC1251 with a 32K SRAM chip, and 18K is usable. I would love for this to be supported even more! Thanks!
Yes PockEmul supports the E500, E500S, E550 and U6000 256Kb internal RAM extension.
It supports too a 256Kb external RAM card which brings the total memory up to 512Kb 🙂
For the PC-125x family, PockEmul emulates the PC-1251H which was a specific development platform with 18Kb of RAM.
Its purpose was to develop program for application oriented pockets PC-1252 and PC-1253.
I love the Sharp E-500 series on my Android, but unfortunately I can’t access the configuration page (double tapping the body of the calc). The app crashes. It happens in both my smartphone and my tablet, Android 9 and 8.
try to locate in your filesystem the file e500.pkm. It should be in the directory /pockemul/sessions.
Could you please send me an email on firstname.lastname@example.org with this file attached ?
